ESL CLASSES
Young Scholars offers ESL classes to children, youth and adults, who are interested in practicing English language communications skills. Instructors provide all the necessary materials to help students develop and improve basic oral, reading, and written skills. Resources include one-on-one conversations, reading packets, and writing assignments.

- Classes available in all levels of English as a Second Language (ESL) from beginning to advanced competency (Levels 1-5). You can attend morning, afternoon or evening classes.
- Classes include English instruction in speaking, listening, conversation, pronunciation, vocabulary, spelling, grammar and reading.
CONVERSATION & AMERICAN CULTURE
This course focuses on current events and cultural topics in English. Students further develop their pronunciation, vocabulary, idioms and conversational skills. Students will learn the diversity of American Culture and increases their self-esteem and confidence through using English in their educational and personal lives.
Course Learning Outcomes
The objectives of this course are to familiarize students with the many different aspects of American culture such as greetings, gestures, tippinbg, safety laws, health, holidays, education, shopping and values. As students progress in certain topics, they will be able to converse and convey their personal opinions, argue a point of view, and share and discuss experiences.
Students will be able to understand and make inferences from conversations and talks regarding academic and social topics. Clear English pronunciation, including stress and intonation will be emphasized and demonstrated through using authentic materials to stimulate students’ oral communication skills.
Performance Objectives
After the successful completion of each unit, students will be able to:
· Discuss aspects of culture and recognize and use common gestures and sayings;
· Get acquainted with each other and be familiar with appropriate topics of discussions;
· Gain experience in social settings and holiday events;
· Differentiate the different teaching and learning styles, collaborate with classmates on assigned tasks
· Identify common shopping phrases and create a conversation between a customer and a salesperson;
· Recognize the different styles, textures, and tastes of food, and be comfortable ordering and dining in restaurants;
· Correlate health habits and health issues;
· Associate legal terms and legal issues such as understanding and obeying road signs;
· Describe values of the American dream and interpret government terms and American politics.
